This redundant brownfield site, close to Darwen town centre has a 35 deg slope with stone retaining walls to neighbouring properties to the top and bottom of the site. The scheme provides twelve 2-bed flats with an undercroft car park for all residents. The materials palette includes local stone, slate, render and timber with the fa├žade massing layered to acknowledge the two storey upper block facing the adjacent housing and the rear accommodation with views over the valley cantilevering over a massive stone plinth.
