Planning consent has been granted for the creation of a large outdoor leisure facility, with hi-wire walks, segway tracks and bare-foot routes. The building forms a gateway to the woodland activities. Accommodation includes catering, retail and sanitary facilities, with a large covered forecourt for visitors to informally congregate. The design of the entrance and service buildings are deliberately understated responds to the sites rural location, reading almost as agricultural structures in the landscape. Materials reflect this aspiration with stone rubble walls, ‘yorkshire’ boarding and profile sheeting to the roof. Preparatory work on the pre-commencement conditions has been instructed.
