Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council’s Heritage Initiative offered regeneration grants for improving buildings and spaces within defined heritage areas. These grants aim to generate confidence, encouraging investment and positive change. Stanton Andrews worked with the local authority’s planning and conservation departments to renovate the facades of a group of properties close to Darwen’s railway station. The proposed works respect the character and integrity of the original building and structure, taking into consideration relevant national and local conservation policy and guidance. Grants available contributed to repairing the fabric of the building plus restoring architectural detailing.
